Sport plays a key role in our curriculum

As well as a full in-school PE curriculum for all age groups, including dance and gymnastics, there is a whole range of sporting activities which take place off-site.

The school grounds include a netball court and a 5-a-side football pitch which are used daily by children across the age range. To ensure that we meet the demands of the curriculum and the needs of the pupils, we also take full advantage of the excellent facilities that lie on our doorstep.  For example:

  • All pupils in Years 2 and 3 receive swimming lessons at a local pool.
  • All pupils in Years 1 to 6 receive tennis lessons from LTA qualified coaches at East Dorset Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
  • For additional football, netball, rugby, cricket, rounders and athletics, pupils use Whitecliff and Poole Parks, both of which are a short walk away.
  • In the Summer Term and during the first half of the Michaelmas Term, there is a Watersports option for all pupils in Years 3 to 6.  This is run by Rockley Watersports on the lake in Poole Park and includes sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking and Dragon Boat racing!

Pupils in Years 2 to 6 compete with a number of schools in the area in sports such as football, netball, cricket, swimming, rugby, athletics and tennis.

Poole is famous for it's watersports, so it makes perfect sense that we take full advantage of the fantastic facilities to be found on our doorstep. We run an extensive watersports programme, in conjunction with Rockley Sailing, from Easter through to October.  Pupils in years 3 to 6 learn to sail, windsurf, kayak and paddleboard on the beautiful Poole Harbour.
